JNIOR – Software Features
The JNIOR platform provides an easy and cost effective way to connect,
monitor and/or control small sets of process signals and to aggregate
and transmit the information over the Ethernet network.
The JNIOR platform consists of a variety of software features
and products. Many of the features are built into the JNIOR
operating system, while the advanced features can be easily added by
installing standard programs included on the JNIOR CD. Targeted
programs are available for vertical applications, while the ultimate
flexibility can be achieved by adding your own software.

Built-In Software Functionality >> View
Data Sheets
Right out of the box, the JNIOR includes a lot of functionality
with ‘no
programming required’. Everything is done through the
web-based configuration screen.
Some of the key features built-in to each JNIOR:
| JNIOR Beacon NEW |
Works with a PC based program to configure
your JNIOR IP address (serial cable no longer required) |
| User Interface Screen |
Viewed anywhere on the network via your browser
because it comes from the JNIOR |
| Access and Control Security |
3 levels – Admin, User and Guest – to
regulate what each user can do |
Counters |
32 bit count values that are battery backed and can be
reset manually or by another program – configure to accumulate
or integrate over user entered time period |
Usage Meters |
Track the ‘on-time’ of an input
(or an output) in hours and fraction of hours and can be reset manually
or by another program |
Latched Inputs |
Fast acting inputs can be trapped so that the input status stays
high until manually reset or reset by timer expiration
|
Pulsed Outputs |
Sends commands to the JNIOR to turn on an
output for a user definable pulse duration – as fast as 1 millisecond |
Alarms |
Based on input transition, counter value,
and usage meter with adjustable thresholds and independent e-mail profile |
| E-mail NEW |
Multiple profiles, complete flexibility in message format and now – no
e-mail server required |
I/O Slave |
An output can be a ‘slave’ to
a ‘master’ input (or another output) on the same or different JNIORs (also referred to as I/O Relay or I/O Mirror) |
Fast Output Control NEW |
Configure an output to follow an input where the output is updated
in the same scan providing a reaction time measured in nanoseconds!
|
Network Time Protocol (NTP) |
Configure the JNIOR to check a time server
anywhere on the Internet to re-sync its time every 4 hours |
| Registry System with Editor |
An easy and convenient way to review, change
and back-up your JNIOR configuration settings |
Extra Software Features
In addition to the standard JNIOR software features,
the user has the option to install EXTRA software features – at
No Additional Cost.
The following programs are included on the CD supplied with the JNIOR
and can be installed at anytime over the Ethernet network using the
JNIOR Loader program.
Task Manager >> More
information
Task Manager offers a complete and flexible solution
for controlling outputs, data acquisition, data storage (logging),
resetting counters and usage meters, sending e-mail and more. No
programming is required to implement the system. Using
the web-based configuration screens stored on the JNIOR, with a few
clicks of the mouse, you are ready to go.
Tasks can be set-up to run any day of the week or all the days of the week
and can be based on ‘time’ and/or ‘events’. Time-based
Tasks can be triggered once a day or on a recurring basis. Event based
Tasks can be triggered whenever there is an input transition, a counter or timer
exceeding a pre-set value or when an output changes status. Multiple Tasks
can be set-up on each JNIOR.
Actions can configured for each Task to control an output,
reset a counter or usage meter, log any value in the JNIOR to a file
and/or send an e-mail. E-mail
can be used to send a log file. Multiple Actions can be configured
for each Task.
Task Manager offers the user the following key features:
- Runs on the JNIOR so you do not need a PC, PLC or any other device
connected to the JNIOR. The JNIOR handles everything.
- Tasks run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Tasks can occur on a time based interval and/or on specific events triggered
by the JNIOR I/O
- Multiple Actions can be configured per Task to control outputs, reset usage
meters or counters, log data at various frequencies or send an e-mail
- The JNIOR can run Task Manager and still implement all the other great
JNIOR features.
Data stored on the JNIOR can be in CSV (Comma Separated Values) formatted
files for easy transfer from the JNIOR and for use in other applications, including
standard spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel.
Serial-to-Ethernet Server NEW >>Contact
Us
The Serial-to-Ethernet Server runs on the JNIOR to act as a bi-directional
server to interact with serial devices connected to the JNIOR serial port. Now
you can easily enable serial devices to be accessible over the Ethernet network. The
user can configure the serial port parameters, including the baud rate, number
of data bits, number of stop and start bits and the parity all via the JNIOR
Registry Editor on the JNIOR web page.
The Serial to Ethernet Server can run at the same time as any other application
or feature on the JNIOR, enabling you to handle multiple needs with 1 cost-effective
device.
