JNIOR – Communications & Integration
The JNIOR platform provides an easy and cost effective way to connect,
monitor and/or control small sets of process signals and to aggregate
and transmit the information over the Ethernet network.
The JNIOR platform consists of a variety of ways to utilize and integrate
the I/O connected to the JNIOR. Many applications only utilize the features
built-in to the JNIOR right out of the box. However, there are also many
applications using the JNIOR where the JNIOR is integrated into an application
running on a remote PC under Windows or Linux. Some customers even add
their own software to the JNIOR.
The following lists the industry standard communication methods
available with the JNIOR, including an OPC Server, Modbus/TCP and
Windows API – at No
Additional Cost.
INTEG also includes the detailed JNIOR/TCP protocol standard so that
you can communicate with the JNIOR utilizing only the specific commands
needed and bypass the Windows API. Utilizing the JNIOR/TCP protocol is fast, friendly and
powerful.
Also provided with the JNIOR CD are two Software Development Kits
(SDK). The
EXTERNAL SDK helps you integrate the JNIOR I/O with your Windows or Linux application
and the EMBEDDED SDK helps you to develop Java programs to execute on the JNIOR. With
the Embedded SDK, you can take advantage of our unique Java class running on
the JNIOR that allows you to easily link with the JNIOR operating system, immutable
memory blocks and other JNIOR features.
OPC Server
INTEG provides a free OPC server
for integrating the JNIOR I/O, analog expansion modules and
environmental sensors with standard, industry compliant, OPC
clients.

Modbus/TCP
The Modbus/TCP protocol is built
into the JNIOR operating system and is a server that you can
enable or disable. Modbus communications can occur simultaneously
with other communication methods. Modbus/TCP allows the
JNIOR to integrate with other Modbus client devices or software
programs utilizing the Modbus/TCP protocol over the Ethernet
network.

Windows API (DLL)
The Windows Application Program
Interface (API) is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) that implements
all of the JNIOR/TCP protocol commands and handles a variety
of error handling and communication methods to effectively
manage the communications with 1 or many JNIORs.

JNIOR/TCP
INTEG provides you with the details
on the JNIOR/TCP protocol commands so that you can make direct
connections with the JNIOR from a PC running Windows or Linux
and effectively control and monitor the JNIOR.

Software Development Kits (SDK)
As part of the JNIOR documentation, INTEG provides a Software Development
Kit (SDK) for developing applications on the JNIOR written in Java
and applications running on a PC written in VB.NET, C or other language
that integrate the JNIOR information.
External Applications SDK for a PC or other Computer
- Includes a set of tools that will help you to program Windows
applications that work with the JNIOR. It provides a Windows
Dynamic Link Library, or DLL, that handles all of the JNIOR communications.
The DLL is referenced in your program through predefined
API calls that are detailed in the Windows
Library Reference document.
- Sample C++, VB6 and VB.NET programs are provided that use the
DLL and/or JNIOR protocol
- Support documentation
